The GreenIO London conference is happening on the 30th September and 1st October 2026, and Green Software Brighton organisers will be there on stage with two different talks! At this event, Fiona and Mark will be previewing their talks to the Green Software Brighton audience. Join us to hear more about this great conference and for a chance to win free tickets to attend the event! (Chance to win tickets will be limited to those attending in person) Fiona MacNeill - Fractional Influence - everyday 'greening' as a contractor in tech In a fragmented tech workplace how might an ethical contractor make a difference? As a technologist and researcher who transitioned into UX, I found myself in a pickle. No one was hiring researchers because LLMs made code cheap. So, I became a part-time product manager. As a PM, I realised that I had an opportunity to make a difference to digital sustainability with my small business clients. From little things like tagging tickets for ‘sustainability’, content formats, UI design, and token use. To strategic decisions such as hyperscalers, compute, and grant funding. Mark Buss - People-powered progress: OVO’s collaborative blueprint for responsible AI use As a UK energy retailer with ambitious net-zero targets, OVO’s strength lies in our mission-driven team. When we introduced AI as a key tool to accelerate innovation as part of this year's targets, we knew that we needed to initiate an open dialogue with our teams to ensure its adoption aligned with our shared values. This led to a company-wide journey where OVO Tech & Sustainability teams partnered with people across our UK offices. Through collaborative workshops and transparent data analysis, we aim to transform initial concerns into a co-created strategy, ensuring our path forward with AI is both ambitious and inclusive. This is how we’re harnessing technology and teamwork to build a more sustainable future. This talk is a hybrid event. For those joining us in person, we will be filming and photographing the talk and the audience for Q&A sections and social media content. Please speak to the organisers if you have any questions or requirements related to this. Check out the Green Software Brighton website for links to previous talks. Arrive from 18:00 for pizza and drinks. Event will start at 18:30. We always head for a drink and a chat locally afterwards too. --- *Thank you to Runway East for use of their space to host our events and to Root & Branch, Silicon Brighton and the Green Software Foundation for supporting us.*
